Physical Fabrication & Props
A deep dive into spatial design and hands-on structural fabrication. Built entirely from scratch, this mask started as a raw, hand-sculpted clay positive before being cast in a rigid paper mache shell and meticulously sanded to a seamless finish. It is a practical study in taking an abstract concept, engineering its physical structure, and executing a 3D object—proving a dedication to the entire creative lifecycle, from initial ideation to physical realization.
Days 1-2: Base Armature & Proportions
Using paper foil and tape a mold is created.

Days 3-4: Plaster Shelling
Using plaster of paris rolls and rudimentary tools a casted model of the positive is made.
Days 6-7: Sanding & Gesso Refinement
The previously made cast is sanded and a gesso blend is applied throughout the mask, using paper maché techniques the first layer is applied. The cast is left for 1-2 days to dry and a second layer is applied which will also be sanded.
Days 11-12: Core Extraction & Sculpting
Two layers of paper maché gesso blend have been placed on the mask at this point, following another round of sanding a natural lubricant is smeared throughout the mask and a plastic protective layer is placed over it. Using modeling clay I begin to sculpt features.
